The Évelyne was built for the saddle room, not the salon. That is why it survives both.

This Hermès Évelyne TPM 16 has been authenticated by Sold Attire's 10-step verification process, ensuring every detail meets the standard expected by serious collectors. Jacqueline Hébert designed the Évelyne in 1977, naming it after the daughter of the Hermès equestrian director. The perforated H panel was a functional decision: riding brushes needed air, and the silhouette was built around that constraint. Clemence leather came later, chosen for its scratch resistance and soft hand, which makes it the preferred Évelyne calfskin for everyday crossbody use. In the pre-owned Hermès bags Egypt collector market, the TPM in orange Clemence surfaces rarely in this condition tier. For those who buy once and buy right, this Évelyne is that piece.

The Vision

Noon at Sachi in Cairo Festival City. Mona is in tailored cream trousers and a white poplin shirt, hair back. The Évelyne hangs from one shoulder, the orange Clemence catching the window light at an angle that turns it almost amber. She is not carrying a bag. She is carrying a signal, and she knows exactly what it says.

The Provenance

Jacqueline Hébert designed the Évelyne in 1977 for the Hermès equestrian catalogue. The perforated H panel was structural: wet brushes and leather tools needed ventilation, and the cotton canvas of equestrian bags could not breathe. Clemence leather was chosen for its scratch resistance and the way the grained surface diffuses light, making the orange read richer and less fragile than on Box or Swift. In the pre-loved Hermès Cairo market, the TPM is the rarest Évelyne size, produced in smaller runs than the PM or GM. The 2023 blind stamp places this piece within the house's current production tier, where stitching density and leather quality align with post-2010 Hermès standards.

The Dialogue

Q: What is the difference between Clemence and Togo leather on an Évelyne?
A: Both are grained calfskin, but Clemence is slightly looser in grain structure and softer to the hand. Togo is firmer and holds a crisper silhouette under weight. Clemence is preferred for the Évelyne's everyday crossbody use because the grain absorbs knocks without marking visibly. The orange pigment reads slightly richer in Clemence because the softer surface diffuses light differently.

Q: Does the Évelyne TPM have enough capacity for daily use?
A: The TPM measures 16 cm wide and 18 cm tall, which fits a phone, slim wallet, keys, and a lip product. It is designed for the edited version of the day: a morning appointment, an evening dinner, a weekend afternoon. Buyers who need full-day carry choose the PM at 26 cm. The TPM is for those who have already decided what they actually need.

Q: Does the perforated H affect the bag's structural durability?
A: The perforations are an engineering decision, not a concession. The leather panel is reinforced along the perforation perimeter with saddle-stitch rows that distribute load away from the cut holes. On a 2023 blind stamp piece, the reinforcement is consistent with current Hermès construction standards. The perforated panel is no weaker than the solid reverse side.

The Care

Clemence leather benefits from occasional conditioning with a neutral leather balm, no more than twice a year. The orange pigment is UV-sensitive over long exposure; keep the bag out of direct sunlight when stored. The canvas strap can be wiped with a damp cloth. Store stuffed with acid-free tissue inside the dustbag, away from dark denim fabrics that can transfer dye onto orange leather.
