Camel Loro Piana cashmere. Christian Dior label. A coat made in a decade when both names meant something different.
This Christian Dior coat has been authenticated by our 10-step verification process, ensuring every detail meets the standard expected by serious collectors. Produced in the 1990s and constructed from Loro Piana cashmere -- one of the most respected Italian fibre houses, now owned by LVMH -- this coat carries dual labelling that documents its supply chain with unusual transparency for its era. Loro Piana's raw cashmere sourcing from Inner Mongolia and its proprietary fibre processing result in a handle that synthetic blends and lesser grades cannot replicate. For those who buy once and buy right, this coat is that piece.

The Vision ›
Nadia leaves the Semiramis on a January evening, coat open, not because she is warm but because she has learned that this coat carries differently when it moves. The camel settles against the dark of the Nile behind her and the effect is almost architectural. She is not going anywhere in a hurry -- the coat does not permit that either; it has its own pace and she has long since matched it. On the way to the car, a woman she does not know stops, looks, says nothing. Nadia nods once. Some conversations happen entirely without words. That is what three decades of Loro Piana cashmere will do.
The Provenance ›
The 1990s was a transitional decade for Christian Dior, bridging the Gianfranco Ferrè era (1989-1996) and the early John Galliano years. During this period the house contracted Loro Piana for cashmere fabrication, dual-labelling these pieces to document the fibre provenance -- a practice that marks them out in the secondary market today. Loro Piana's cashmere at this time came from hand-combed Inner Mongolian herds under contracts that the house has maintained for decades. This pre-owned Christian Dior coat sourced for the Cairo market retains both the Christian Dior woven label and the Ing. Loro Piana & C. 100% Cashmere label, providing complete material provenance. Authenticated Dior from the 1990s in this condition is genuinely scarce in Egypt; most pieces circulate without documentation or have aged poorly. At 9/10 after approximately thirty years, this coat has been kept with intention.
The Dialogue ›
Q: Is cashmere practical in Cairo winters?
A: Yes. Cairo winters run 8-18 C from December through February, and a knee-length 100% cashmere coat is exactly the weight for that range. This coat is not a cold-climate piece; it is a Cairo-winter piece. The open-front shawl collar allows layering underneath when temperatures drop toward 8 C at night.
Q: The listing says 9/10 -- has the cashmere pilled or lost its loft?
A: No. The fibre retains its characteristic softness and body. There is no pilling on the face or sleeves, and no moth damage or thinning. The 9/10 grade reflects its vintage status -- it has been worn, but the wear is invisible at arm's length. Up close you are looking at approximately thirty years of careful ownership.
Q: What size is this coat in modern terms?
A: Vintage Dior sizing from the 1990s runs one to two sizes smaller than current European sizing conventions. We recommend contacting us via WhatsApp for exact chest and shoulder measurements before purchasing. We will provide a full measurement sheet on request.
The Care ›
Cashmere of this grade should be dry-cleaned only -- do not hand-wash, machine-wash, or steam without professional guidance. Store folded, never hung; a hanger will pull the shoulders out of shape over time. Keep in a breathable garment bag with cedar blocks to deter moths; do not use sealed plastic bags which trap moisture. Depill gently with a cashmere comb after each season, never with a razor or fabric shaver. This coat has survived thirty years in excellent condition because a previous owner followed exactly these principles. Continue that care and it will outlast anything you buy new.
